In order to ensure a free and fair election this year, the Electoral Commission (EC) has declared that it is dedicated to establishing a strong and credible voter registration. “It is our goal to create a final voter registration that is reliable and strong. We beg your confidence, as well as that of the Ghanaian people.
We will not fail you; we will not disappoint you, and we vow and pledge to executing and undertaking a free, fair, transparent, and credible election come 2024,” she said.
The chairperson of the EC declared that all problems found in the voter registration have been fixed by the Commission. The current voter registration is more accurate, according to the Commission, than the one that was utilised for the August voter display.
“The provisional voter registration that is in use today is different and more accurate than what was displayed and given to the parties in August 2024. As a commission, we have spent the last two weeks resolving the discrepancies.
The register that was given to parties in early August is significantly different from what we have now, according to Jean Mensa, who also noted that the inconsistencies found thus far have been mostly fixed.
The claims that the EC is actively working to deny certain voters their right to vote were refuted by her. The Electoral Commission has stated that it will launch a second online voters’ exhibition in the next few days, allowing voters to check their information online for free and report any inconsistencies they find to the agency.
Additionally, the updated provisional voter registration will be provided to political parties, along with a deadline for reporting to the EC any inconsistencies found in the register.
We want the parties to view this as a national rather than a political task. Jean Mensa said, “Let’s get our hands dirty and thoroughly clean the provisional voters’ register in order to make sure it is strong in front of the 2024 elections.
