OSP declares Ken Ofori-Atta wanted

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been declared wanted and a fugitive by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). This declaration comes after Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng revealed that Mr. Ofori-Atta is a suspect in four high-profile corruption investigations, including the National Cathedral project and Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) ¹.

The OSP has ordered Mr. Ofori-Atta to return to Ghana immediately for interrogation. However, his lawyers have expressed uncertainty regarding his return date, as he is reportedly in the United States for medical treatment. The Special Prosecutor has warned that failure to comply will lead to further action to compel his return.

The investigations into Mr. Ofori-Atta’s activities are part of a broader effort to tackle corruption in Ghana. The OSP has been tasked with investigating and prosecuting corruption cases, and this declaration is a significant step in that process.

It’s worth noting that Mr. Ofori-Atta has been linked to other controversies, including a $34.9 million ambulance spare parts scandal ². The OSP’s declaration is likely to put further pressure on the former Minister to return to Ghana and face questioning.
