The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared former Finance Minister Ken Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, a fugitive, and issued a warrant for his arrest. This announcement was made by the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, during a press briefing held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Mr. Agyebeng revealed that the former Finance Minister has repeatedly evaded invitations for questioning regarding several ongoing investigations in which he is a prime suspect. Despite multiple attempts to summon him, Mr. Ofori-Atta has not cooperated with the OSP’s requests.
“Consequently, the OSP declares Ken Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta a wanted person. He is a fugitive from the law,” the Special Prosecutor stated emphatically during the briefing.
The OSP stressed its resolve to employ all lawful means to ensure Mr. Ofori-Atta is apprehended and brought before the investigative body to answer pertinent questions.
Meanwhile, lawyers representing the former minister have informed the OSP that their client is currently outside Ghana indefinitely on medical grounds. However, the OSP has expressed skepticism about this claim, as it comes amid heightened scrutiny surrounding Mr. Ofori-Atta’s involvement in the cases under investigation.
This development marks a significant escalation in the OSP’s efforts to tackle high-profile corruption cases and enforce accountability in public office. The office has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring that justice prevails, regardless of the stature or influence of individuals implicated in such cases.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
