The National Chairman of the NDC has described as unfortunate and questionable comments by President Akuffo Addo describing his vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a first class vice president during the president’s visit to Dr. Bawumia’s hometown.
“I want to end by saying a big thank you to the people of the North East Region, especially to the people of Walewale. You have given me a first-class assistant in the form of the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia. He has been of great help to me and my government.” – President Akufo-Addo
Reacting to the President’s comment at the 1st General Meeting of TEIN Legon at University of Ghana, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress Hon. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo questioned the basis for the president’s funny conclusion on his vice and further pointed out why Dr. Bawumia as a vice president has failed and described the president’s claim as shocking and most unfortunate considering the fact that Ghana’s economy has recently been downgraded by Fitch.
According to him Dr. Bawumia has failed woefully in his duties because the two major areas under him as head of government’s economic management team and his statutory function as head of the Police Council are both in disarray.
On the worsening economic conditions under Akufo Addo – Bawumia led admistration,.Chairman Ampofo underscored the need for students to be actively involved in political activities…speaking under the theme : ” Assessing the fortunes of the NDC at the tertiary level, repositioning TEIN towards victory 2024″ he challenged students to see themselves as catalyst for change and empowered them to speak against the ills of the government without fear or favor.
Present at the function were the General Secretary of the NDC, National Youth Organiser, National Communications Officer, National Women Organiser, President of the NDC’s Professional Forum Amb. Sam Pee Yale, Prof. Josuah Alarbi etc.
