KYEBI, Ghana, 8th August: The family of the late Okyeame Edward Kwabena Ofosu-Ampofo has donated all monetary contributions received during his funeral to the Kyebi School for the Deaf in the Eastern Region.
The gesture was announced by Dr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, son of the deceased, Policy Advisor for Political Affairs at the Office of the Vice President and Board Chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board, at the funeral grounds on Saturday.
Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo said the decision was part of the family’s commitment to giving back to the community and supporting education, particularly for children with special educational needs.
He expressed the hope that the donation would contribute to improving teaching and learning at the Kyebi School for the Deaf and help create better educational opportunities for students in the area.
The late Okyeame Edward Kwabena Ofosu-Ampofo peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, bringing an end to a life dedicated to his family and community.
He was laid to rest on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Kyebi Astro Turf in the Eastern Region.
He is survived by his widow, 10 children, 34 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral attracted a number of prominent dignitaries, including the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang; the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah; the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia; Ministers of State; Members of Parliament; Regional Ministers; traditional leaders and other distinguished guests.
The family’s decision to channel the funeral contributions to the Kyebi School for the Deaf reflects its desire to turn the outpouring of support received during the bereavement into a lasting contribution to the development of education in the community.
Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo said the initiative was intended to honour his late father’s memory by supporting a cause that could have a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of young people in Kyebi.
