Former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has raised concerns about incidents of individuals allegedly retrieving items distributed in certain communities. According to him, many of those involved in these activities are members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dr. Ofosu Ampofo explained that in some cases, items intended for distribution during campaigns were left unshared in various locations, prompting party members to return and reclaim them. “There are reports from certain areas that the items brought for distribution were not shared as planned, and now some people are going back to collect them,” he stated.
He contrasted this behavior with the actions of NDC supporters, emphasizing their commitment to safeguarding such resources. “What our NDC supporters do, however, is to step in and protect these items whenever they hear that they are at risk of being taken away. They rush to secure and safeguard them to ensure fairness and accountability,” he added.
Dr. Ofosu Ampofo used the opportunity to call for more transparency and proper management of resources during political campaigns, urging all parties to focus on initiatives that genuinely benefit the people. He also encouraged NDC supporters to remain vigilant and committed to upholding the values of the party.
Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the youth of the party who are currently engaged in or occupying roles within sensitive government agencies to exercise patience and composure.
Speaking to Nana Dogbey on Adekyee mu nsem on Ahotor fm, he assured them that a formal and peaceful transition of power would take place soon after January 7, marking the anticipated swearing-in of the NDC government. Dr. Ofosu Ampofo urged the youth not to take matters into their own hands but rather to trust in the democratic process.
“Remain calm and disciplined,” he said. “By January 7, there will be a proper handing over to the NDC government. Every government institution and asset that belongs to the state will be rightfully managed by our administration. There is no need for undue pressure or actions that could disrupt the process.”
He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order during this period, encouraging the youth to focus on unity and readiness to support the incoming administration’s agenda. Dr. Ofosu Ampofo reiterated that the NDC remains committed to safeguarding the country’s democratic principles and ensuring a seamless transition for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
