Odawna Garage Workers Appeal to NDC for Urgent Assistance Amid Growing Challenges

 

 

As part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s three-day retail campaign tour in the Greater Accra Region, the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, visited the Odawna Garage in the Korle Klottey constituency. During his interaction with the workers, he received a heartfelt appeal for help to address the many challenges threatening their livelihoods and wellbeing.

The workers raised three major concerns during the visit. Foremost among these was the need to complete a long-stalled building project meant to house a hospital within the garage. According to the chairman of the garage workers, the incomplete facility has been left abandoned for years, depriving workers and their families of much-needed access to healthcare.

Equally pressing is the perennial issue of flooding, which the chairman described as the workers’ “major headache.” He explained that during the rainy season, the entire garage area becomes submerged, disrupting activities, damaging property, and posing serious health risks to both workers and nearby residents.

Additionally, the chairman lamented the struggles faced by many young workers who lack driving licenses despite completing their training. “These young men are skilled drivers, but the absence of licenses prevents them from fully participating in productive tasks or running errands freely. We hope the NDC will prioritize making driving licenses more accessible if elected into power,” he said.

The workers also expressed gratitude for the NDC’s past contributions, noting the visible infrastructure projects in the area. “All the pavements you see here in the garage were constructed during the tenure of the NDC government,” the chairman proudly stated.
