Nyantakyi Slams 2015 GFA Ruling in Dreams FC-Tema Youth Case
Former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi has labeled the 2015 ruling in the Dreams FC and Tema Youth case as a “bad decision” that damaged the association’s reputation.
The case centered around Daniel Gozar, a player whose identity was altered to Cudjoe Mensah.
Nyantakyi distanced himself from the verdict, claiming he had no knowledge of the case or role in the decision-making process.
“I didn’t even understand the case, I didn’t know the facts of the case,” he said. He also denied rumors of manipulating the Disciplinary Committee.
The Disciplinary Committee, headed by then-chairman Prosper Harrison Addo, now General Secretary, made the flawed decision to ban the player without sanctioning Dreams FC for altering his identity. Nyantakyi attributed the weak decision to the Committee.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) later overturned the GFA’s decision, ruling in favor of Tema Youth.
The international tribunal ordered the FA to reconstitute its committee, resulting in Dreams FC’s demotion and Tema Youth’s reinstatement to the Premier League in the 2017/18 season.
