The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has formally directed the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, to comply fully with the standing directive issued by the NSA Board.
This involves immediately revoking the appointments of 17 staff members who were brought on board in violation of established recruitment protocols and without the necessary prior clearance.
Among those affected is the individual currently serving in the position of Chief Operations Officer (COO). This particular role does not exist within the approved organizational structure of the NSA, rendering the appointment invalid from the outset.
As a result, the person holding this post has been given until Thursday, February 26, 2026, to vacate the office and cease performing any duties associated with it.
The remaining 16 individuals will similarly receive formal letters notifying them of the revocation of their appointments, bringing an end to their engagement with the authority under these irregular circumstances.
Once the NSA obtains the appropriate approvals and clearance from relevant authorities to undertake fresh recruitment exercises, all affected persons—as well as any other qualified candidates—are welcome to submit applications.
However, any future hiring will strictly follow standard procedures, ensuring that the process remains transparent, competitive, and merit-based in line with public sector regulations and good governance principles. This approach aims to uphold fairness, accountability, and the integrity of the NSA’s administrative framework.
