NPP pay people in the NDC GH₵1,000 to record their meetings for us – NPP Chairman

Tema West Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwasi Poku Bosompem, has claimed that certain executives within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are secretly paid by the NPP to record their internal meetings and share them.

According to Kwasi Poku, they initially paid these individuals GH₵1,000 but are planning to increase the amount to GH₵1,500 as the 2024 elections approach.

“I can tell you that we, the NPP, pay people in the NDC GH₵1,000 to record their meetings for us, and we are even planning to increase the money to GH₵1,500,” Kwasi Poku stated during an interview on Ahotor FM’s morning show, ‘Adekyee Mu Nsem,’ with Citizen Kofi Owusu.

He further claimed that the latest recordings received from these NDC informants revealed internal disputes among NDC executives regarding missing items, including motorbikes and vehicles donated to the Tema West branch of the party.

“There is chaos among the NDC executives over some missing motorbikes and vehicles that were donated to the party. Chairman Issah is also being accused of using the party’s vehicle for personal purposes, such as pursuing women,” he added.

Mr. Bosompem went on to say that the NPP had deliberately infiltrated the ranks of the NDC in Tema West to cause division, and he expressed satisfaction with the outcome.

“We have infused the NDC executives in Tema West to create division, and we have succeeded in doing so. I am proud of that,” he stated.

He also touched on the history of leaked recordings within the NDC, referencing the case of the immediate past National Chairman, Dr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, who is currently on trial over an alleged leaked tape from an internal meeting.

While Kwasi Poku acknowledged that such secret recordings could damage reputations, he nevertheless admitted to taking advantage of them for political gain.

“Ofosu-Ampofo is a good presidential material, but look at what his own party did to him. Recording people secretly is damaging, as it tarnishes images like Ofosu-Ampofo’s. However, I must admit that I am enjoying those recordings coming from Tema West,” he remarked.

The claims made by Kwasi Poku add to the growing tensions between the two major political parties as Ghana prepares for the upcoming 2024 elections, with both sides looking to gain an edge by any means necessary.
