In a statement issued on Friday, the party expressed “profound” shock and sadness at the news of its founder father.

It said CK Tedam served as a symbol of peace during the turbulent periods in the party’s recent past.

“The NPP readily recalls the instrumental role he consistently played in resolving internal disputes that plagued the party at various times especially in 2015.”

The statement, signed by General Secretary John Boadu, commiserated with the immediate family of the party “legend” and “colossus” and the good people of Paga, where he hails from.

“As a mark of respect in honour of his memory, the NPP has directed that all party flags at the national headquarters and in the respective regions and constituencies be flown at half-mast for the next seven days,” it announced.

And concluded: “May the soul of our dearly departed father and mentor find solace in God’s bosom and may the family he left behind and indeed all of us find fortitude to bear this great loss.”
