
General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has stated that the Nana Addo led Government has no option, but to go to the International Monetary Fund for a bailouts, following the economic challenges in recent times.
The general Secretary of the NDC made the remarks on Adekye Mu Nsem with Citizen Kofi Owusu on Wednesday.
Mr. Nketiah explain to listeners that, the recent economic outlooks has affected livelihoods and citizens are under pressure to make earns meet.
He noted that, going to IMF is not a problem but for the propaganda that the government engaged in during previous engagement with the public. They are finding it difficult to go accept to go for monetary fund for austerity.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah further mention that, the overall expected revenue in the country is so scanty that, it will not be able to compensate deficits in the economy.
He said the government going for IMF bailouts is a shared responsibility and admonish government spokespersons to be magnanimous with the prevailing economic challenges in the country.
The general Secretary of the Main opposition is of the view that, though the NDC is not happy with the current situation, the party will be to harness better alternatives to solve the debilitating economic health of the country.
The Government of Ghana is expected to meet officials from the IMF on Thursday to discuss roadmap for economic recovery, after Government announced an IMF austerity weeks ago which have been greeted with mixed opinions and agitations in both formal and informal sectors of the economy.
In statement released and sighted by Ahotor online.com. The government on Tuesday, stipulates that, it will not abolishing one of its major flagship policy, the E Levy contrary to claims and media reports over the abrogation of the policy by social commentators and economic analyst.
He chided government to avoid opulence and reduces overspending in public institutions to save cost.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah said Ghanaians have tighten their belts for a very longtime and is about time Government introduces Mitigative measures to cushion suffering Ghanaians, and bring respite to the economy.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah also revealed to listeners of Ahotor FM (92.3) to leave within their means in order to avoid incurring unnecessary cost to their disposal income.
He called on government to thread cautiously in this trying times since the economy is in shambles and there seem to be no sigh in sight for a quick relief to ordinary citizens.
He added that, times are hard and the difficulties in the country are as a result of bad Governance and nuisances taxes which have been imposed on both goods and services.
Mr. Nketiah, touted the previous NDC government’s achievements in the economy and said there are best practices that the current administration can salvage from the track records of the NDC during their tenure in the office between 2012-2016 respectively.
