Ghanaian rap sensation Ajinqwa has revealed how some mainstream artists extort huge sums of money from upcoming artists for collaborations and fail to fulfill their part of the agreement.
Speaking on Ahotor 92.3Fm’s Award-Winning Entertainment show The Open Box Show with Mr. Foreal, the musician allegedly recounted instances where rapper T-flow and King Paluta have both taken cash from him on the account of collaborations but have disappointed him in promoting his music.
The rapper has been in the industry for over a decade and gained prominence during the days of Lord Kenya said the current crop of Ghanaian artists has always relegated upcoming musicians to the background when they get to the top.
“Many at times you have to pay just to get the attention of a mainstream artist, and this is really killing the industry”, he said.
“It’s about time we supported real talents than celebrating overhyped artists”, he stressed. Asked whether he will be interested in being contacted by a political party, the rapper said it is strictly business though he will weigh the options.
