No Church Too Small to Matter – President Mahama Urges Global Fellowship to Support Smaller Congregations

ACCRA, Ghana, 14th October: President John Dramani Mahama has called on the World Assemblies of God Fellowship to ensure that smaller churches and congregations serving under difficult conditions receive recognition and support within the global Christian community.

He said the strength of the international fellowship depended on its ability to value the contributions of every congregation, regardless of its size, location or available resources.

Speaking at the opening of the 10th Triennial Congress of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, President Mahama urged delegates to embrace an inclusive approach to their deliberations.

He observed that the congress had brought together ministers leading large congregations alongside others nurturing smaller communities of faith.

According to him, each group had valuable experiences and contributions that could enrich discussions about the future of the Church.

“The universality of the Gospel calls us to recognise the worth of every person,” he said.

President Mahama stressed that no nation should be considered too small to contribute, no community too distant to be remembered and no congregation too modest to have a voice.

He encouraged participants to ensure that the experiences of churches operating in difficult circumstances are heard, while congregations with greater resources explored ways to support those with fewer resources.

“May those serving in difficult circumstances be heard. May those with greater resources find new ways to support those with fewer resources,” he stated.

The President said a stronger global fellowship required its members to share their resources, experiences and responsibilities rather than allowing differences in capacity to determine whose voices mattered.

He also urged church leaders to extend their support beyond their congregations by responding to the needs of vulnerable people through education, healthcare, youth development and other forms of community service.

President Mahama expressed hope that the congress would produce partnerships capable of supporting disadvantaged communities and strengthening ministries across different countries.

The gathering, which has attracted more than 10,000 participants, is being held under the theme, “Commissioned, One Mandate, Every Nation.”
