NEIP CEO Labels Ofori-Atta a ‘Nation Wrecker’ Over Alleged Flight From Accountability

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship Innovative Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei Esq., has launched a scathing attack on former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, describing him as a “nation wrecker” for allegedly fleeing accountability after nearly eight years in office.

According to Eric Adjei, Ofori-Atta has deliberately avoided scrutiny following his stewardship of Ghana’s economy, particularly after the implementation of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme, which he said adversely affected elderly citizens who had invested their lifetime savings in government bonds.

He argued that although many Ghanaians were aware of Ofori-Atta’s reported ill health while he was in office, the former minister insisted on remaining in his position and refused to resign. However, following the New Patriotic Party’s defeat in the general elections, Adjei alleged that Ofori-Atta has now left the country and relocated to the United States, citing health reasons to justify his absence from Ghana and his inability to face questioning.

Eric Adjei further accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of showing disrespect to the nation by continuing to defend their former finance minister, whom he claims has abandoned his responsibility to account for his actions. He stated that even if Ofori-Atta does not face judgment in Ghana, justice would still find him elsewhere, stressing that his tenure caused more harm than good to the country.

He also drew comparisons with previous finance ministers, noting that figures such as Kwesi Botchwey, Baah Wiredu, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, and others remained in Ghana after leaving office and subjected themselves to public and institutional scrutiny.

Questioning why Ofori-Atta should be treated differently, Eric Adjei said the former minister and his family should feel ashamed for failing to remain in the country to answer what he described as legitimate and reasonable questions from the Ghanaian people.
