NDC Will Improve upon Free SHS Programme – Prof. Opoku-Agyemang

NDC running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has pledged that the next NDC government will enhance the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme and would not cancel it, as claimed by critics.

Speaking at a rally in Sekondi during her three-day campaign tour of the Western Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that the NDC is committed to addressing the

myriads of challenges faced by students, teachers, and schools under the current Free SHS system.

As a former Minister of Education, she highlighted the party’s role in laying the foundation for the Free SHS policy, including the construction of Community Day Schools and the introduction of the Progressively Free SHS initiative.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang dismissed anti-NDC propaganda which suggested the programme’s cancellation, urging Ghanaians to trust the NDC’s plans to improve education.

She outlined key reforms, including eliminating the double-track system, improving infrastructure, providing adequate learning materials, and ensuring sufficient food for students.

“We will fix the challenges of the Free SHS policy to make it better for our children,” she affirmed.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang called on voters to support John Dramani Mahama, assuring them that under his leadership, the NDC will elevate the quality of secondary education and create jobs for the youth through the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy policy.
