The Director of Elections and Information Technology (IT) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Jibril, has announced that the party will open nominations for its constituency executive elections from September 15 to 17, 2026, following the completion of the branch-level elections.
Speaking on the Yepe Ahunu programme on Ahotor 92.3FM with Nana Dogbe, Mr. Jibril said the process of picking and filling nomination forms will be conducted online to give members easier access to the exercise and also assist the party with data collection. He said the online portal, forms.ghanandc.com, will open at 7:00 a.m. on September 15.
He explained that the portal will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on September 17, after which the system will automatically shut down. Mr. Jibril therefore advised prospective aspirants not to wait until the last minute before starting the process, stressing that there would be no opportunity to pick nomination forms after the deadline.
According to him, prospective aspirants will need their party identification number and current Electoral Commission voter ID number to access the system. They will also need the details of their proposer and seconder, including their names and party identification numbers, while GH¢200 should be made available through Mobile Money for the payment.
Mr. Jibril said once an applicant enters their party ID and completes and confirms the GH¢200 payment, they will be able to log into the system, where their photograph will appear. The aspirant will then enter the required information, follow the prompts and preview the completed form before saving it. He stressed that applicants must carefully check all information before completing the process because once the form has been filled and submitted, it cannot be changed. A payment prompt will subsequently be sent to the applicant’s phone for confirmation, after which the completed document can be printed.
The NDC Director of Elections and IT said the filing of nominations will take place on September 22 and 23, 2026, followed by the vetting of aspirants on September 25 and 27 at the party offices in the respective constituencies. After the vetting, qualified candidates will be allowed to begin their campaigns ahead of the constituency executive elections scheduled for October 24 and 25, 2026.
Mr. Jibril said about 17 positions will be contested in the constituency elections. These include the chairman, vice chairman, secretary, deputy secretary, organiser, deputy organiser, communications officer, deputy communications officer, treasurer, deputy treasurer, youth organiser, deputy youth organiser, women’s organiser and deputy women’s organiser, as well as other positions. He explained that some of the additional positions would be captured on a single ballot paper.
On the recently completed branch elections, Mr. Jibril described the exercise as generally successful, saying the party achieved about 98 percent success. Although he acknowledged that some members may still have concerns about aspects of the process, he said the overall outcome had been positive. “People will still have issues, but generally, everybody can attest to the fact that the process was very successful,” he said, adding that the party is now focused on ensuring a smooth constituency-level election process.
