NDC Tema West Deputy Youth Organiser Contender, Declares Ambition to Win Constituency Seat–Stephen Tetteh Kpofianu

The Tema West Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is witnessing growing interest from prospective candidates seeking to lead the party and strengthen its chances of retaining political momentum and securing future electoral victories.

Stephen Tetteh Kpofianu, Deputy Youth Organiser  aspiring parliamentary candidate for the NDC in Tema West, says his vision is to promote integrity, expand the party’s membership base and create employment opportunities for constituents if elected.

He made this known during an interview on the Adekye Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor FM 92.3 in Accra, hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu.

Mr Kpofianu said the constituency must work hard to sustain the momentum and commitment that contributed to the NDC’s victory in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He expressed confidence that his leadership, experience and ability to work with others would help strengthen the party’s structures and improve its electoral prospects.

According to him, the way forward is to build and expand the party at all levels, bringing more people on board and winning the hearts and minds of constituents to consolidate the NDC’s political position in the constituency.

He also commended party executives, both those serving in government and those working outside government, for their contributions to creating an enabling environment for development and improving the welfare of party members.

Job Creation for the Youth

Mr Kpofianu identified job creation for young people as one of the key priorities of the government, noting that employment opportunities would be essential to improving livelihoods and sustaining the interest of the youth in national development.

Although the government has introduced several policies targeting young people, he said he believed further efforts were being made to establish the necessary structures for implementing the 24-hour economy policy.

He explained that the initiative, which is intended to promote economic activity and create employment opportunities, would require the development of appropriate infrastructure and supporting systems to achieve its objectives.

Mr Kpofianu acknowledged that the implementation of the 24-hour economy policy might appear to be progressing slowly, but expressed the view that work was ongoing to establish the structures needed to support its rollout.

He cited the proposed development of 24-hour markets as part of the infrastructure-related efforts, while noting that some institutions with existing facilities were already better positioned to begin implementing aspects of the policy.

He maintained that effective implementation of youth-focused policies, alongside stronger party structures and a commitment to job creation, would be important in promoting development in Tema West and strengthening the NDC’s prospects in future elections.
