The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that aspirants seeking to contest in the party’s upcoming internal elections can submit their nomination forms from Saturday, November 7, to Monday, November 9, 2026.
The party’s Director of Elections and IT, Mahdi Jibril, said the submission exercise would take place at the NDC headquarters between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day.
Speaking on the Ahotor FM Morning Show, Adekyee Mu Nsem, with Nana Dogbe, Mr Jibril explained that aspirants are required to submit their completed nomination forms, endorsement forms and other relevant documents in person to the Elections Committee.
He stressed that the deadline would be strictly enforced, warning that the committee would not accept any submission after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9.
Verification of Nomination Requirements
According to Mr Jibril, the Elections Committee would examine all submitted documents to determine whether aspirants had met the party’s nomination requirements.
He said the committee would pay particular attention to the required number of endorsements and the payment of nomination dues.
Mr Jibril explained that where an aspirant falls short of the required endorsements or has outstanding payments, the committee would contact the individual to complete the necessary processes.
He further clarified that all aspirants would be required to undergo vetting by the appropriate committee in line with the party’s constitution and established electoral guidelines.
Special Requests and Appeals
On concerns about aspirants who may be unable to submit their forms personally, the NDC Director of Elections and IT said such individuals would have to formally write to the Elections Committee for consideration.
He noted that the committee would assess each request and determine whether any special arrangement could be made.
Mr Jibril also outlined the procedure for addressing complaints arising from the vetting exercise. He explained that aspirants who are dissatisfied with decisions of the Vetting Committee, including disqualification, would have the opportunity to appeal.
According to him, appeals must be submitted within two days after the vetting process, providing aggrieved aspirants with an avenue to seek redress within the party’s established timelines.
Call for Compliance
Mr Jibril urged all aspirants to strictly comply with the nomination requirements and timelines to avoid complications that could affect their chances of contesting.
He emphasised that the submission of nomination forms was the first important step in the electoral process and encouraged aspirants to ensure that all required documents and supporting information were properly completed and submitted.
The NDC Director of Elections and IT also appealed to party members and prospective candidates to cooperate with the Elections Committee to ensure a smooth, transparent and orderly internal election process.
