The NDC Professionals Forum (PROFORUM) is calling for an IMMEDIATE and comprehensive technical audit of the Electoral Commission’s (EC) electronic equipment and IT systems. This audit, to be conducted by certified international institutions, must be completed before the General Elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.
Our demand follows recent concerns, including:
Lack of guaranteed transparency in the electoral process
Unexplained discrepancies in the tabulation and transmission of registration numbers during the recent Limited Registration Exercise
Delays in submitting the Electoral Register in a timely manner for verification against the ongoing Voter Register
Inadequate security measures for electronic equipment and data
Insufficient testing and certification of IT systems
Mysterious theft of EC registration equipment
Appointment of known NPP activists to senior and mid-level positions within the EC
The integrity of the upcoming elections is paramount, and we cannot afford any risks. The technical audit should encompass:
Verification of equipment and software authenticity
Security vulnerability assessments
Testing of vote tabulation and transmission systems
Review of data backup and recovery processes
Evaluation of system scalability and performance
Additionally, we urge the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Director of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to release their reports on the investigations into the theft of EC electronic equipment.
Signed,
Dr. Jehu Appiah
Secretary General, NDC Professionals Forum
