The Executive Vice President of the Center for Policy and Foreign Engagement, Eke Agbai, PhD, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was more constructive in opposition than the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking in an interview with Emmanuel Asiedu Agyare (Onokwafo Yaw Asiedu) of Ahotor FM, Agbai noted that every government needs an opposition to shape its governance, and in this case, the NDC did a better job than the NPP.
He questioned whether the NPP would have allowed NDC parliamentarians to speak if they had secured the super majority the NDC currently enjoys.
Agbai praised the NDC’s leadership, citing John Mahama’s responsible government. He noted that despite the narrow margin in the 8th parliament, the NDC was not given the opportunity to lead, unlike the current situation where the minority leader is given massive opportunities to contribute.
