NDC is right on the reintroduction of PTAs comment – Dep Edu minister designate

Deputy Minister-designate for Education, Hon. Clement Abass Apaak, has clarified that the previous NPP administration did indeed abolish the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) and replaced it with Parents Association (PA), which excluded teachers.

According to Apaak, the PA allowed parents to mobilize resources and perform functions previously handled by the PTA, but without teacher involvement.

Apaak, who is also the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, supports the NDC’s plan to reintroduce PTAs, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between parents and teachers.

He believes that by working together, they can identify and address issues, ultimately benefiting the education sector.

During his vetting, Apaak highlighted the distinction between PTAs and PAs, stressing that the reintroduced PTAs will facilitate dialogue, discussion, and cooperation between parents and teachers.

This move aims to strengthen the education system and promote a more collaborative approach to addressing educational challenges.
