NDC Insight Urges Immediate Resignation of Electoral Commission Officials

The integrity of our electoral process is paramount. Under the current administration of Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the EC has been perceived as increasingly compromised, marking a troubling trend in Ghana’s electoral history. We cannot tolerate such a corrupted body overseeing our elections.

NDC Insight, a dedicated advocate for electoral integrity and democratic principles, calls for the immediate resignation of the Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Adukwei Mensa, along with Deputy Chairmen Eric Asare Bossman and Samuel Tettey. Our position is clear: the Electoral Commission must operate as an independent body that ensures free and fair elections, devoid of any political biases or affiliations.

NDC Insight insists that the new government must prioritize the appointment of judges who reflect neutrality and serve the interests of the people rather than partisan politics.

*Accra, Ghana – [Date]* – NDC Insight, a dedicated advocate for electoral integrity and democratic principles, calls for the immediate resignation of the Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Adukwei Mensa, along with Deputy Chairmen Eric Asare Bossman and Samuel Tettey. Our position is clear: the Electoral Commission must operate as an independent body that ensures free and fair elections, devoid of any political biases or affiliations.

Recent actions undertaken by the current leadership of the EC have raised serious concerns about their commitment to impartiality. As stewards of our democratic process, the EC must not be beholden to any political party or individual. We firmly believe that individuals engaging in such conduct must not occupy positions of authority within the Commission.

Should these officials refuse to resign, NDC Insight calls upon the incoming NDC administration to take decisive action and dismiss them immediately following their inauguration on January 7th. Ghanaians deserve an Electoral Commission that is free from corruption and biases, one that genuinely represents the interests of all citizens rather than those of a select few.

Furthermore, NDC Insight demands a thorough investigation of all other Electoral Commission officials to identify and remove anyone with political party affiliations. We urge the new government to prioritize the appointment of neutral individuals to the EC, ensuring that future elections are conducted fairly and transparently.

In addition to our concerns regarding the EC, NDC Insight expresses alarm over the state of the judicial system in Ghana. Recent appointments and actions taken by the Nana Addo administration have severely undermined public trust in our judiciary. The appointment of politically affiliated individuals, including a former NPP women’s organizer as Chief Justice, raises serious questions about the impartiality and integrity of our judicial system.

We call on the incoming parliament to take immediate legal action to dismiss all recently appointed justices. The integrity of our judiciary is vital for safeguarding the rights and freedoms of every Ghanaian citizen. This is not merely an administrative concern; it is a matter of national security.

NDC Insight insists that the new government must prioritize the appointment of judges who reflect neutrality and serve the interests of the people rather than partisan politics.

Additionally, we urge the NDC government to conduct a comprehensive review of all government institutions. The pervasive compromise witnessed under the NPP administration must be addressed as a primary objective. If left unchecked, the damaging effects of these actions will continue to impact our nation for years to come.

In conclusion, NDC Insight calls upon all Ghanaians to join us in advocating for the resignation of the aforementioned EC officials and to support our petition for a complete overhaul of our judicial system. Together, we must ensure that Ghana’s institutions reflect the values of democracy, integrity, and justice that our citizens deserve.
