NDC Insight Exposes Irregularities in Electoral Commission and NPP Collaboration: A Call to Action for Ghanaians as NDC Unveils Appalling Irregularities in Voter Registration Process: A Recipe for Electoral Fraud
Accra,Ghana 24-09-2024
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has uncovered alarming irregularities in the conduct of the Electoral Commission (EC) and its collusion with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that threaten the integrity of Ghana’s democratic processes. We stand at a critical juncture where the foundational principles of democracy are under siege, and it is imperative that Ghanaians unite to demand a free and fair electoral landscape.
Recent investigations have revealed that the EC, an institution that is constitutionally mandated to uphold the integrity of our elections, has instead become a facilitator of electoral malpractice. Evidence suggests that the NPP has manipulated the electoral framework, turning the EC into what can only be described as a crime scene. This blatant disregard for democratic principles not only undermines the electoral process but also discredits the very essence of our governance.
The EC is meant to operate as an independent body, ensuring that all political parties have a fair playing field. However, the NPP’s influence over the EC has compromised its autonomy and impartiality. Instead of safeguarding the rights of voters, the EC has become an instrument of electoral manipulation, subverting the will of the Ghanaian people.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) continues to expose shocking irregularities in the voter registration process. These findings highlight a disturbing trend of manipulation and mismanagement by the Electoral Commission (EC) in collaboration with the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Such actions jeopardize the integrity of our democracy and demand immediate attention from all Ghanaians.
The following irregularities have been identified in the registration process and the voters register:
- 243,540 Previous Transfers Added to 2024 Transfers: A staggering number of voters have been improperly integrated into the current register, raising serious concerns about the accuracy and legitimacy of the voter rolls.
- 15,000+ Unidentifiable Voter Transfer Paths: Many voter transfers lack clear documentation, leaving Ghanaians questioning the validity of these changes and the transparency of the process.
- 3,957 Voters Deleted from the 2024 Provisional Register: This alarming figure represents voters who were previously registered in 2023 but have inexplicably been removed from the current provisional register, disenfranchising them without justification.
- 2,094 Transferred Voters Not Found in Absent Voters List: A significant number of transferred voters are unaccounted for in the Absent Voters List, raising concerns about the integrity of the transfer process.
- Corrupt Files with No Names or Photos: Numerous files within the system contain no identifying information for affected voters, highlighting a severe lack of oversight and accountability within the EC.
These irregularities are not mere administrative errors; they reflect a systemic failure that could lead to deliberate electoral fraud if not addressed. The NDC Insight firmly believes that a forensic audit of the 2024 voters register and its IT system is essential to identify and rectify the root causes of these avoidable errors and vulnerabilities said the spokesperson Dr. Anthony Sorkpah
It is crucial to distinguish between correcting errors on the register and closing the systemic vulnerabilities that allow such issues to occur. Without addressing these underlying problems, any fixes made will be temporary and may lead to the reintroduction of errors before the upcoming elections on December 7.
The time for action is now. Ghanaians must stand together to demand accountability from the EC and the NPP. We cannot allow the sanctity of our elections to be compromised by malpractices that threaten our democracy. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that every vote counts and that the electoral process is fair and transparent.
Let us unite and advocate for a thorough cleanse of the electoral system. Together, we can safeguard our democratic rights and ensure a brighter future for Ghana.
Ghanaians must recognize that these irregularities represent a direct attack on our democracy. If we allow this pattern of corruption and deceit to persist, we risk sacrificing the future of our nation. It is time to hold the NPP and the EC accountable for their actions. We must collectively demand transparency and integrity in our electoral processes.
The NDC Insight calls on all citizens to stand up against these criminal activities and advocate for a clean, fair, and equitable electoral process. We urge every Ghanaian to use their vote as a powerful tool for change. The time has come to vote out the NPP and cleanse the EC of its current leadership, restoring it to its rightful role as an unbiased arbiter of our democratic elections.
Let us remember that the strength of our democracy lies in our collective action. Together, we can ensure that future elections reflect the true will of the people. It is our responsibility to safeguard our democracy for generations to come.
