The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ablekuma North constituency has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to rerun elections in 62 polling stations where the pink sheets remain disputed. This follows the EC’s inability to declare a winner in the December 7, 2024, parliamentary elections due to missing pink sheets from three polling centres, a situation that has left the constituency without parliamentary representation.
During a candlelight vigil held at the forecourt of the Quashieman Chief’s Palace, NDC supporters from Ablekuma North and beyond gathered in solidarity with their parliamentary candidate, Awurabena Aubyunn
The vigil aimed to send a strong message to the Electoral Commission to expedite the necessary processes to ensure the constituency has a representative in Parliament.
Addressing the gathering, the NDC’s Constituency Organizer, Musah Kalamu, demanded that the Electoral Commission conduct fresh elections in the 62 polling stations where the results are under contention. He emphasized that the people of Ablekuma North deserve a fair and transparent electoral process, adding that the NDC would not tolerate any attempt to sweep the matter under the rug.
The supporters, wielding candles and placards, chanted for justice and transparency, urging the EC to act swiftly. According to them, the delay in resolving the issue is an affront to the democratic rights of the constituents who are eager to see their voices reflected in Parliament.
