The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akuapem North has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, Sammy Awuku, of using his position as CEO of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) to influence constituents with money.
The NDC claims that Awuku’s development projects in the constituency only started after he assumed his role at the NLA and that he is utilizing government machinery, not personal resources, to gain support ahead of the elections.
At a forum assessing the political landscape in the area, the NDC’s constituency organizer Ernest Adom Biko expressed concerns that the projects being undertaken are funded by the NLA and not from Awuku’s pocket.
He challenged the government to clarify what they have done for Akuapem North, a constituency that has consistently supported the NPP.
The organizer urged voters to support the NDC, asserting that only when the NDC is in power does the constituency receive meaningful development.
