The National Film Authority (NFA) has officially opened applications for the highly anticipated GH¢20 million Film Development Fund (FDF), a major initiative designed to strengthen Ghana’s film industry and support creative professionals nationwide.
The fund is designed to provide financial assistance to filmmakers, producers, distributors, cinema developers, scriptwriters and other stakeholders within the film value chain. It aims to aim at the enhancement of quality high-qualityn films, encourage production, create jobs and employment
opportunities,reaseboostbal ccountry’s ompetitiveness of the cinntry’dustry.
According to the NFA, the Film Development Fund forms part of its broader commitment to revitalising Ghana’s film sector by providing the resources needed for filmmakers to tell authentic Ghanaian stories while promoting local content on both domestic and international platforms.
Eligible applicants are encouraged to submit projects that demonstrate creativity, commercial potential and cultural value. The initiative is also expected to attract investment into the film industry, improve cinema infrastructure and enhance opportunities for young creatives.
The opening of applications has been welcomed by industry players, many of whom believe the fund will help address one of the biggest challenges facing Ghanaian filmmakers—access to funding.
The National Film Authority has urged interested applicants to carefully review the eligibility requirements and submit their applications within the stipulated period.
