Youth Activist Ivan Kyei Innocent has criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s choice of running mate for the upcoming elections.
He argues that the selected candidate, Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, is not suited for the serious responsibilities of the Vice President’s office.
Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate, has chosen Dr. Opoku-Prempeh as his running mate and submitted his name to the party. President Akufo-Addo has reportedly approved this choice.
However, Ivan Kyei Innocent has expressed doubts about Dr. Opoku-Prempeh’s credibility and competence.
Speaking on Ahotor FM‘s ‘Simpieso‘ with host Emmanuel Martey, he pointed out that the official announcement has not yet been made, which he believes makes Dr. Bawumia appear indecisive and lacking in courage.
According to the NPP’s constitution, the presidential candidate is expected to confidently name their running mate after being elected.
Ivan Kyei Innocent stated that he would be disappointed if Dr. Opoku-Prempeh was officially named as the running mate.
He urged political parties to offer the best candidates for Ghanaians to choose from, asserting that Dr. Opoku-Prempeh does not represent the best options the NPP can present.
