Nana Kwame Dankwah Urges Benjamin Asare to Join Asante Kotoko

Okwahu United General Manager, Nana Kwame Dankwah, has urged Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, to leave the club for rival giants Asante Kotoko to help him flourish with the Ghana national senior team, the Black Stars.

Kwame Dankwah, a former Asante Kotoko supporters’ chief, believes that Asare will thrive in Kumasi.

Asare’s stock has risen rapidly after he excelled for Ghana during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar in March, where he kept clean sheets in the two matches.

The 32-year-old’s status has shot up since the breakthrough, and he was named man of the match in Hearts of Oak’s 1-0 win over Medeama SC in the Premier League on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Despite Asare’s recent success, Dankwah insists that Kotoko presents a better profile for the goalkeeper to join and maintain his spot in the Black Stars.

“It would truly benefit him [Benjamin Asare] if he joined Kotoko,” he said. “Hearts will not aid his progress.”

Dankwah’s comments have sparked a debate about the potential benefits and drawbacks of Asare joining Asante Kotoko.

While some may argue that the move could help Asare’s career, others may believe that it could disrupt his current form and rhythm with Hearts of Oak.

Asare’s future remains uncertain, and it will be interesting to see whether he decides to stay with Hearts of Oak or explore other options, including a potential move to Asante Kotoko.
