Nigerian musician Timi Dakolo recently shared a humorous glimpse into his love story with his wife, Busola. In an interview with Pulse Nigeria, Timi described how they first met during a church event.
He recalled, “I saw her in church looking quite serious, and I thought to myself, ‘I have to meet this beautiful girl.’ I invited her to a church ball and asked for her number. When I called, she didn’t answer.”
Despite this, their friendship blossomed, although Busola tried to keep things strictly platonic. Timi wasn’t ready to accept that.
“Every Sunday, I made it a point to find her in the same spot. She mentioned that her phone had been stolen, which was her way of keeping things friendly, but I refused to be friend-zoned. When she suggested just being friends, I told her that would never happen,” he laughed.
Timi also shared a funny moment about how Busola was embarrassed by the car he received after winning the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007 – a branded Picanto.
He humorously recounted, “One day, I picked her up in that Picanto, and she would always ask me to park it out of sight. I just laughed and told her I’d surprise her one day, urging her not to underestimate me, and I did.”
Timi and Busola tied the knot in 2012, and together they have welcomed three children.
