Ghanaian Rising Afro-soul sensation Ess Thee Legend is quickly becoming a household name, not just for her soulful voice but also for the stories she weaves into her music.

During a captivating appearance on Ahotor Mmre with host Obaapa Janee, the Ghanaian  singer gave fans a rare glimpse into the heart of her songwriting process.

When asked what inspires her music, Ess responded with calm confidence: “I’m inspired by things around my environment when I’m writing songs.”

She explained how simple, everyday moments in a life,  conversations,  life issues and nature’s sounds—all speak to her. “Sometimes a single moment or vibe can turn into a whole song. I don’t chase inspiration; I live it,” she said,

Born and raised in Ghana,   Ess Thee Legend—formerly known as Essilfie—has always held her roots close. Her musical journey became stronger during her university years, where she experimented with genres and honed her signature blend of Afrofusion, soul, and acoustic vibes.

In 2024, she caught national attention after winning the AfroFuture Rising Star Challenge, leading to her rebranding as Ess Thee Legend. Her EP You Will Know My Name and tracks like “Notice Me” and “All in All” have received praise for their emotional depth and lyrical honesty.

Now nominated in the TGMA Unsung Artiste of the Year category, Ess is proving that her art, deeply rooted in the rhythms of her environment, is striking a chord across borders.
