A three-unit ultra-modern Kindergarten (KG) block that had remained abandoned for 16 years has been completed and commissioned at Anungurano in the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region.
The facility was commissioned by the Jaman South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Siata Watara, who said the completed project would provide a conducive environment for early childhood education in the community.
According to the MCE, the newly completed KG block comprises a three-unit classroom block, toilet facilities, urinals, a conference room, offices, wardrobes, washrooms, a headteacher’s office and a staff common room.
Teaching and learning materials have also been provided to support effective teaching and enhance the educational experience of pupils who will use the facility.
Speaking after the commissioning, the Assembly Member for the area and former NPP Women’s Organiser, Agnes Asantewaa, popularly known as Awo Yaa, expressed appreciation to Hon. Siata Watara for completing the long-abandoned project.
She commended the MCE for what she described as a non-partisan approach to development, saying the MCE had demonstrated concern for residents regardless of their political affiliation.
Agnes Asantewaa also urged the pupils to take their education seriously and study hard to become responsible and productive citizens.
Reflecting on her own political experience, she said her educational background contributed to her losing an election, and used the experience to encourage the younger generation to take their studies seriously to avoid facing similar challenges in the future.
She further appealed to the MCE to continue addressing the development needs of Anungurano and support the community with additional projects.
Some residents also expressed appreciation to Hon. Siata Watara for completing the abandoned KG block, describing the facility as an important investment in the education and future of children in the community.
