MUSIGA’s Greatest Achievement Is Uniting Musicians as One Family – Bessa Simons

The President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bessa Simons, has highlighted the union’s biggest achievement as its ability to bring musicians together under one umbrella, fostering unity and collaboration within the industry.

Speaking in an interview with Obaapa Janee on Ahotor FM’s mid-morning show Ahotor Mmre Bessa Simons emphasized that despite challenges in the music industry, MUSIGA has successfully created a strong sense of belonging among musicians, ensuring they work together as a family rather than as rivals.

“One of our greatest successes is that we have managed to unite musicians across different generations and genres. MUSIGA is not just an association; it’s a family where we support and uplift each other,” he stated.

Bessa Simons also spoke about the union’s efforts in advocating for better conditions for musicians, including fair royalty distribution, welfare benefits, and professional development programs.

He acknowledged that while there is still work to be done, the progress made so far in fostering unity among Ghanaian musicians is a step in the right direction.

He encouraged young and emerging artists to join MUSIGA and take advantage of the opportunities the union provides, including networking, training, and industry support.

The MUSIGA president reiterated his commitment to strengthening the union and ensuring that musicians continue to benefit from a more structured and supportive music industry.

United Music fraternity is crucial for the growth and international recognition of Ghanaian music.
