The Women’s Desk of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is turning up the volume on advocacy and empowerment! Earlier yesterday, 10th April, 2025 a high-powered delegation led by the ever-inspiring Abena Ruthy, 2nd Vice President of MUSIGA, paid a working visit to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
The team met with Dr. Ahisah Zakaria, Chief Director at the Ministry, to explore exciting opportunities to empower women in music and champion gender equality in the creative space. According to MUSIGA’s post on Facebook, the dialogue was rich, progressive, and full of promise.
From mentorship programs to support systems for female creatives juggling motherhood and music, the discussions touched on real issues affecting women in the arts.
Dr. Zakaria expressed her enthusiasm for future partnerships, noting that “music is a powerful tool for social change, and women in music deserve every platform to shine.”
With the likes of Abena Ruthy leading the charge, the future looks bright—and loud—for women in Ghana’s music scene.
