MUSIGA MOURNS THE PASSING OF TEDDY OSEI

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Teddy Osei, the esteemed leader of the Osibisa Band and beloved brother of Mac Tonto. Teddy Osei departed this morning in London, leaving behind a legacy that has profoundly impacted the music scene in Ghana and beyond.

Teddy Osei was not only a pioneer in the world of music but also a cultural ambassador who helped bridge the gap between African rhythms and global sounds. His contributions to the genre of world music, particularly through the fusion of African, Caribbean, and Western influences, have inspired countless artists and musicians around the globe.

As we reflect on his remarkable life and career, we are reminded of Teddy’s unwavering commitment to his craft and his dedication to uplifting Ghanaian music on the international stage. He was a true son of Ghana and England, whose influence will continue to resonate for generations to come.

On behalf of MUSIGA, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Teddy Osei’s family, friends, and all who were touched by his music. We have indeed lost one of our great sons. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
