The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has expressed deep sympathy to victims of the recent floods that have affected several communities across Ghana, urging citizens to remain united while prioritising safety as the rainy season continues.
In a statement released on Thursday, the union extended its heartfelt condolences to families who lost loved ones and expressed solidarity with those displaced or who suffered property damage and injuries as a result of the devastating floods.
Beyond its message of sympathy, MUSIGA commended the remarkable efforts of volunteers, neighbours, emergency responders, and members of the creative arts industry who have stepped forward to support affected communities. The union encouraged Ghanaians to continue donating relief items, offering temporary shelter, and sharing only verified information to aid ongoing rescue and recovery efforts.
The organisation also used the opportunity to remind the public to take precautionary measures during the rainy season. It advised residents to pay attention to official weather updates, stay away from flood-prone areas, move valuable belongings to safer locations, and report blocked drains and other hazards to the appropriate local authorities.
MUSIGA further stressed the importance of keeping drains clear and disposing of waste responsibly to help reduce the risk of flooding in communities.
The union added that its members and partners who wish to support relief operations should coordinate with their respective regional offices as efforts continue to assist those affected by the disaster.
