MUSIGA Congratulates President-Elect John Dramani Mahama

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) extends its warmest congratulations to John Dramani Mahama on his election as President of the Republic of Ghana. This resounding victory signals a new era for the nation, and we are particularly optimistic about its implications for the growth and development of the creative arts industry.

President-elect Mahama’s leadership presents an opportunity to transform Ghana’s cultural landscape. As a union, we are ready to lend our full support in advancing initiatives such as the Black Star Experience. This visionary program aims to spotlight Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through dynamic platforms, including film festivals, culinary expos, fashion showcases, and other creative arts events. We firmly believe that, with the right policy environment and strategic investments, the creative arts sector can become a significant driver of national development.

MUSIGA also wishes to commend Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his gracious concession of defeat. His statesmanlike acceptance of the electoral outcome has set a tone of unity and mutual respect, which is vital for maintaining peace during this critical transition. Such conduct exemplifies true democratic leadership and underscores the importance of collaboration for the collective good of Ghana.

We eagerly anticipate working closely with President Mahama and his administration to unlock the full potential of the creative arts sector. By nurturing talent, celebrating our heritage, and promoting cultural innovation, we can collectively elevate Ghana’s profile on the global stage. Together, we can ensure that the arts not only preserve our national identity but also contribute meaningfully to economic growth and social cohesion.

Signed,

Bessa Simons
