Mubarak Wakaso close to joining Hearts of Oak – Reports

Mubarak Wakaso is poised to wear the Hearts of Oak colours as did Sulley Muntari in the 2021/2022 season.

It has been reported in the local media that Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak are closed to signing former Ghana international midfielder Mubarak Wakaso.

Wakaso could be ending his football career with the capital based club in the Ghana Premier League if he finally signs and will become the third former Black Stars player to don the Rainbow jersey after Sulley Ali Muntari and Samuel Inkoom in the last four years.

However, reports say the 34-year-old will be ready to join the Phobians on a short-term to provide a boost to the former league champions in the second half of the 2024/2025 season.

The midfielder has been without club since mutually parting ways with Chinese Super League side Shenzhen FC in January 2024 after his loan stints with KAS Eupen in Belgium in 2023, making ten appearances for his club.

Wakaso comes with a vast experience over a considerable span of time having played for top European clubs, including Villarreal, Espanyol, Celtic FC, and Deportivo Alaves.

His wealth of international experience, having represented Ghana at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the 2014 FIFA World Cup, further highlights the potential value he could bring to the team.

Wakaso has played 70 times for the Black Stars, scoring 13 goals across the period after making his debut on October 13, 2012.

Signing on with excite coach Abubakar Ouattara as he will count on Wakaso’s quality and provide leadership and guidance into the young Hearts of Oak team.
