Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency, has pledged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will seek justice for the eight individuals who lost their lives during the 2020 general elections.
He assured that the next NDC government will ensure justice for all victims of the current government’s mismanagement, including the families of those who died.
Electoral Commissioner Jean Mensah has expressed strong confidence in the security agencies to ensure a peaceful election in the upcoming December 7 general election.
She praised the collaboration between her office, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and the National Elections Security Task Force.
Jean Mensah highlighted the task force’s efficiency in providing security for EC personnel and their activities across the country.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s morning show ‘Adekyee Mu Nsem’ with host Citizen Kofi Owusu, Lanchene Toobu condemned the use of thugs and rogue elements within the security agencies to disrupt elections.
He referenced the violence during the 2020 elections, which led to the loss of eight lives, and vowed that such actions would not be tolerated again.
The Wa West MP described the killings as tragic and criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo for not expressing sympathy to the bereaved families.
He blamed the then Commissioner of Police, Isaac Ken Yeboah, for the loss of lives, which occurred in various parts of the country, including Tamale, Techiman, Odorkor, Ablekuma, and Savelugu.
Lanchene Toobu called on the national election security task force to act professionally in the upcoming general elections to ensure peace and prevent further tragedies.
