Most of the Attacks Were Directed at Imposters – Elmina Sharks PRO Kingsley Smith Arthur

Public Relations Officer for Elmina Sharks, Kingsley Smith Arthur, has spoken out regarding an incident that occurred during a Ghana Division One League match between Elmina Sharks and Swedru All Blacks in Elmina.
He clarified that the confusion and confrontation on the field were not directed at match officials but rather at three individuals who falsely claimed to be bodyguards of the club’s financier, Dr Papa Kwesi Ndoum.
According to Kingsley Smith Arthur, these three men, who entered the field of play during the game, were wearing Elmina Sharks replica jerseys, which initially made them appear to be affiliated with the club. However, their presence raised suspicion among players and club officials. Elmina Sharks player Jay Asamoah was able to identify one of the individuals as a known figure from Swedru, leading to a heated confrontation between them.
In response to reports suggesting that referees had been attacked, Kingsley strongly refuted such claims, stating that the incident had nothing to do with match officials. “There was no attack on any referee, either during or after the match. The confrontation was solely between the imposters and other individuals on the field,” he explained.
He further emphasised that Dr Papa Kwesi Ndoum does not have personal bodyguards, dismissing any speculation that the individuals in question were officially assigned to him. The club’s PRO stated that security personnel present at the match venue had been informed about the situation and expressed confidence that appropriate action would be taken against the perpetrators.
Kingsley Smith Arthur also reiterated Elmina Sharks’ commitment to fair play and respect for match officials. He called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and relevant authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly to ensure that such disruptions do not occur in the future.
The match between Elmina Sharks and Swedru All Blacks was an intense encounter, with both teams striving for victory in the highly competitive Division One League. However, the off-field incident involving the imposters momentarily overshadowed the game itself.
Kingsley Smith Arthur assured supporters that the club would work closely with authorities to maintain discipline and ensure that its home matches remain safe and secure for players, officials, and fans.
