Several oil marketing companies (OMCs) in Ghana have introduced modest pump price cuts during December’s second pricing window, easing the burden on motorists and businesses just before the Christmas rush.
These reductions arrive amid surging transport demand and commercial activity, which typically spike fuel use over the holidays.
Market leader Star Oil leads the charge, slashing petrol to GH¢11.35 per litre (from GH¢11.97) and diesel to GH¢12.45 per litre. Select outlets nationwide sweeten the deal further, with petrol at GH¢10.97 per litre and diesel at GH¢11.79 per litre.
State-owned GOIL followed suit, pricing petrol at GH¢11.99 per litre, diesel at GH¢12.94 per litre, and Super XP 95 at GH¢14.95 per litre.
Global player TotalEnergies also trimmed prices, dropping petrol to GH¢12.50 per litre (from GH¢12.69) and diesel to GH¢12.99 per litre (from GH¢13.22).
The changes took effect today, Friday, December 19, 2025. Star Oil credits the moves to cedi stability and falling global petroleum prices, allowing pass-through savings to festive-season consumers.
Analysts note that this competitive pricing could curb transport fares and bolster spending through the holidays.
