Erik ten Hag, the former manager of Manchester United, is expected to take over at Borussia Dortmund less than three months after departing Old Trafford.
The Dutchman was seen at Signal Iduna Park on Friday, where he watched Dortmund lose to Bayer Leverkusen, the Bundesliga champions, 3-2.
Head coach Nuri Sahin is under pressure to turn around the German powerhouses’ ninth-place finish in the standings.
After leading Man United to their 13th FA Cup victory, Ten Hag extended his contract with the team last summer.
He presided over Man United’s worst-ever Premier League finish despite the victory, and the 2024–25 campaign got off to a rough start. On October 28, he was let go, and Ruben Amorim was chosen to take his position.
Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Sports, claims that Ten Hag serves as Nuri Sahin’s “shadow coach” and that the board continues to support Sahin.
He also mentioned that the former Ajax manager gets along well with Matthias Sammer, Dortmund’s advisor. As Sahin is fired, Ten Hag, who has been unemployed since leaving Manchester United, might take over at Dortmund.
Dortmund are ninth in the Bundesliga with 25 points after 17 games. They have won seven, drawn four, and lost six.
