On Wednesday night, Black Stars centre-back Mohammed Salisu was on the scoresheet against Dinamo Zagreb in the Uefa Champions League.
Down by two goals Salisu pulled one back for AS Monaco before skipper Denis Zakaria scored from the spot to even the scores.
Salisu capitalised on poor goalkeeping by nodding the ball home during a corner kick in the 79th minute. With a glimmer of hope, Monaco pushed for parity and was awarded a penalty in the 89th minute just before injury time. Skipper Denis Zakaria made no mistake from the spot.
Salisu’s strike was his maiden Uefa Champions League goal. His impressive start to the season has made him a mainstay in Adi Hütter’s starting eleven.
Black Stars Head coach Otto Addo is likely to name Salisu Mohammed in his next call-up for Ghana’s double header against Sudan this month.
