Mohammed Kudus arrived early but was excused from first training – GFA

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed that Mohammed Kudus reported to camp on Sunday but was excused from the Black Stars’ first training session on Monday by head coach Otto Addo.

The Black Stars began preparations on Monday with just nine players participating in a session focused on shooting, passing, and stretching, with Kudus notably absent.

Speaking on Sporty FM, Asante Twum explained: “Mohammed Kudus arrived on Sunday. He was in camp, but the coach [Otto Addo] excused him from the first day’s training.”

With the full squad now assembled, the team will shift focus to tactical preparations ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad on March 21 and Madagascar on March 24.

Kudus has had a challenging season at West Ham United, scoring just three goals so far. His recent form for the Black Stars has also been inconsistent, with his last outing marred by a missed penalty against Niger in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
