Minority in Parliament’s Call for Sammy Gyamfi’s Suspension on Dollar Gift to Agradaa in Viral Video Is Baseless – Hon. Titus Beyuo

Member of Parliament for Lambussie, Dr. Titus Beyuo, has rejected strongly against calls by the Minority Npp in Parliament demanding the suspension of Ghana Gold Board Acting CEO, Sammy Gyamfi, over a viral video showing him giving a dollar gift to controversial evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah also known as Nana Agradaa.

The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, captures Sammy Gyamfi handing what appears to be a bundle of US dollar notes to Agradaa during a public interaction. The footage has sparked debate and criticism from both within and outside the party, with some Minority MPs expressing concern and calling for disciplinary action.

But in a swift response, Dr. Beyuo described those calls as “misplaced, baseless, and dangerous,” warning that such attacks are politically motivated.

“There is no justification for the Minority in Parliament or anyone else to call for Sammy Gyamfi’s suspension over this video. The incident has been blown out of proportion and lacks any evidence of wrongdoing,” Dr. Beyuo stated in a media engagement on Tuesday.

Hon. Beyuo defended Gyamfi’s integrity and loyalty, stressing that no law or Code of Conduct has been breached in the gesture captured on video.

“Giving a personal gift—regardless of currency—to someone in public, even a controversial figure like Agradaa, is not grounds for suspension unless there is clear misconduct or corruption involved. In this case, there is none,” he added.

Member of Parliament for Lambussie, also cautioned the party against allowing social media narratives to dictate its internal affairs, describing the situation as a distraction orchestrated by political opponents.
