The engagement, held in Accra, brought together key stakeholders from government agencies, the private sector, civil society, and regional development bodies to deliberate on the strategic implementation of the project, which spans over 1,000 kilometers and connects five West African countries: Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria.

In his address, Hon. Agbodza highlighted the critical role the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor plays in enhancing regional integration, facilitating trade, and accelerating economic development. He described the project as a “game-changer” that will significantly improve transportation efficiency, reduce travel time and cost, and promote cross-border cooperation.

As part of the initiative, the Ministry will collaborate closely with the ECOWAS Commission, development partners, and neighboring countries to ensure the corridor meets international standards and fulfills its promise of sustainable development.

“This corridor represents more than just a road; it is an artery of economic life for our country and the region,” the Minister stated. “It will boost Ghana’s competitiveness in regional and global markets, attract investment, and create thousands of jobs in construction, logistics, and allied industries.”

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, underscored Ghana’s commitment to ensuring the project’s successful execution, noting that stakeholder engagement is a critical step in aligning national interests, addressing concerns, and fostering collective ownership.
