
Kofi Iddie Adams, the Minister-Designate for Sports and Recreation for the new government has reaffirmed his commitment to revive school sports across all levels in the country.
The Oti Region’s Buem Constituency Member of Parliament made this statement when he appeared before the Parliament Appointment Committee on Thursday for careful interrogations.
Kofi Adams’ vetting had been rescheduled from Wednesday due to a protracted between the committee and social activist Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor over some bribery allegations against the Majority members on the Committee.
In a rather similar fashion, Kofi Adams appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament after a marathon of a vetting involving the Minister-designate for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George.
Adams, elucidating how to execute plans to reenergize school sports made reference to an Act passed by Parliament in 2026 aimed at establishing a school sports agency to enhance to the drive to achieve the dreams of school sports.
“If you observe, in 2026 we passed an Act and in that Act it’s indicated clearly for us to have School Sports Development Agency. So we seriously going to run this in a much more serious and a coordinated manner,” he told the Committee.
He said currently school sports is organised biennially, resulting in some students not engaging in sports at all till they reach their final year.
“This time they do it biannually and because of that some people go through school without having the chance to practice their talents, that willl stop,” he added.
“I have engaged the Minister for Education and we make sure that together, the Nationals Sports Authority will collaborate to see to it that school sports improve.” he concluded.
