Arsenal secured a thrilling 2-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, thanks to a late brace from Mikel Merino.
The Spanish midfielder came off the bench to score two crucial goals in the 80th and 86th minutes, turning the game around for the Gunners.
The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating chances but struggling to find the breakthrough.
Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi had a free header in stoppage time of the first half, but thankfully for Arsenal, the ball dropped wide of the upright.
In the second half, Arsenal began to take control, with Ethan Nwaneri latching onto a Martin Odegaard through-ball but curling just over from the edge of the box.
Merino was then introduced as an emergency center-forward, replacing Raheem Sterling, and he made an instant impact.
Merino’s first goal was a well-placed header from Nwaneri’s cross, breaking the deadlock with ten minutes remaining. He then scored at the far post from Leandro Trossard’s low center, wrapping up victory for Arsenal.
This win takes Arsenal within four points of league leaders Liverpool, ahead of their match on Sunday.
The Gunners have now gone 15 league games without defeat, their longest unbeaten run since 2011.
