Mercy Chinwo Accuses Eezeetee of Exploitation and Contract Fraud

Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has spoken out regarding her ongoing dispute with her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as Eezeetee.

In a detailed statement released through her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Mercy alleged multiple acts of exploitation and contract fraud during her time with EeZee Conceptz.

Mercy accused Eezeetee of replacing her original 2017 contract with a new one in 2019 without her consent. She claimed the new contract sought to keep her in “servitude” by granting Eezeetee lifetime ownership of her music catalog.

Additionally, she alleged that she was never given a copy of the original contract until it expired in 2022.

The singer further accused Eezeetee of withholding significant revenue from her digital streams, including $274,000 in platform earnings, and falsifying financial reports from platforms like Symphonic, Africori, and YouTube.

Mercy also claimed he misrepresented himself as the writer of her songs to collect additional royalties while refusing to remit her share of publishing revenue over seven years.

In her statement, Mercy recounted instances of verbal and emotional abuse, alleging that Eezeetee frequently threatened to ruin her career, stating, “I made you who you are; I can destroy your career.”

Despite attempts to resolve the matter through reconciliation meetings, including one facilitated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mercy said Eezeetee reneged on agreements, including an independent audit.

She also questioned the disappearance of her original 2017 contract and the introduction of the 2019 version.

Mercy emphasized her gratitude to fans for their prayers and support, expressing faith in divine intervention to bring resolution. She called on Eezeetee to explain the discrepancies surrounding the contracts and the financial dealings.

The singer’s statement concluded with her hope for closure and a reaffirmation of her faith, stating, “The Lord has settled me and wiped away my tears.”
