Members of the Gas Tanker Drivers Association have threatened to demonstrate against its leadership over alleged corruption and abuse of power.
The Gas Tanker Drivers in a press conference on Monday, October 3, 2022 in Tema alleged that there have not been any accountability or elections for the past ten years since the establishment of the association which is contrary to the constitution of the Association.
Meanwhile, Article 3 of the Gas Tankers Association By-laws says there shall be an election every four years to elect its executives and eligible leaders.
The interim leaders since 2013 have refused to conduct any elections and account to its members as to where their monies are being held or saved.
The Tanker Drivers added that they pay a daily tickets of GH¢10 since the establishment of the association but there is no accountability to them.
They are therefore calling on the Industrial and Commercial Workers’ Union (ICU) to intervene.
